Principal’s message

Dear parents and carers,

Welcome to the last newsletter of the semester for your reading pleasure. Once again we have come to the end of another very busy, dynamic and successful term.

Competitions are an excellent opportunity for students to develop knowledge, confidence and skills in a competitive and encouraging environment.

Selected CREST students arrived to the United States of America for the GENIUS Olympiad 2019 Competition held in Syracuse, New York on the 17th June 2019. GENIUS Olympiad is an international high school project competition about environmental issues. GENIUS Olympiad will host projects in five general disciplines with an environmental focus. I believe this is a life changing experience for our students and I am sure this will make a huge positive impact on our students’ education and life in general. We wish them all the best and looking forward to hearing good news.

A number of our students have also represented our school successfully in the PESA which is a public-speaking competition for students aged 15-18 years. It provides an excellent opportunity for students to build self-confidence and extend their skills in oral communication, speech writing and research. The competition encourages students from government, Catholic and independent schools to speak to their peers from other schools on topics they are passionate about. Congratulations to Zahra Al Saabary coming first in the district level and Kawsar Dirie for coming third. Zahra will be representing our school in the State level. We wish her all the best in the State Competition.

I would also like to congratulate Selin Dursun for receiving Premier’s VCE award in Turkish.

We administered our Entrance Exams for the 2020 academic year. The number of prospective students sitting the entrance exams 7-12 was record-breaking. Thank you to Mrs. Sebnem, Mrs. Gordana, Mrs. Inass and Mrs. Ruveyda and the IT Department for coming in on Saturday and conducting the entrance exams successfully.

I also would like to take this opportunity to thank Ms. Denise for organising the Cybersafety incursion for year 7-10 and Brainstorm - Wired presentation for our Year 10s & 11s.

Looking back over this term, I am proud to say that from teachers to students and families, our school community had a great and productive term once again and I would like to thank everyone who has been involved in any way, big or small.

We all deserve a relaxing break now. Please stay safe if travelling over the break and enjoy your time with your loved ones.

I wish all of you a great, happy, and relaxing term break.

We look forward to seeing all students rested and ready for the start of Term 3 on Monday 15th of July 2019.

Regards,
Mr Ilhan Eroglu
